Quick Glance

  • 1200lbs load capacity
  • 13” pneumatic tires
  • Quick-release feature
  • 2-in-1 handle

When Gorilla Carts described their four-wheel trolley as ‘heavy-duty’ they weren’t lying. Not only is this cart rugged-looking, but it can also handle up to 1200lbs with ease.

Despite being plastic, the frame is unbelievably solid and enough to put your trust into it when moving heavy loads. This sort of design will be more than capable of holding all sorts of heavy equipment, stones, or gravel.

The pneumatic tires make this load baring possible and roll perfectly fine even when going up and down slopes. Compared to a wheelbarrow, this is a more effective means of carrying around anything heavy.

The fantastic handle compliments the design perfectly and is comfortable enough when ferrying weight around. It isn’t a telescoping handle, but the sturdy metal lever and foam handle work as well as expected. The handle also doubles up for towing, allowing you to attach it to a tractor or similar for easier movement.

This cart comes with quick dumping features, effectively working in the same way as a wheelbarrow. This means you can simply tip out whatever is in the cart, perfect for gravel or soil.

Putting the Gorilla Heavy-Duty Poly Yard Dump Cart is not the simplest of tasks and does require tools. It can be assembled in around an hour, requiring socket wrenches to do so.

Overall this is a fantastic product. It’s a solid frame, amazing load capacity and extra features make this a perfect buy for the busy gardener. Whilst slightly expensive, this is a long-lasting cart and is definitely geared towards serious gardening tasks or tradesmen.

  • 1000lb weight limit
  • 49” x 24.5” frame
  • 13” tires
  • Removable sides
  • 2-in-1 handle

Moving away from plastic, Gorilla Carts Heavy-Duty Steel utility cart is another fantastic cart on the market.

First off the GOR1400-COM is as strong as it is sturdy, holding up to 1000lbs altogether. Along with its rectangular, flat surface, the GOR1400-COM is perfect for carrying all sorts of materials. The pneumatic tires aid in this weight distribution and are perfect for moving across uneven surfaces.

Versatility is on point with this cart. Not only does it have shielding, mesh railings that can hold products in, but these can be detached. Once detached the cart is left as a flatbed surface for larger objects.

As with other Gorilla Carts, the GOR1400-COM is perfect for carrying items across stretches of land. The handle converts, allowing for both manual pulling and towing. Those with a farm or large site will find practicality in this. It is also reliable, something which is necessary when placing trust in products like this.

It’s hard to fault the Gorilla Carts Heavy-Duty Steel Utility Cart. The excellent weight limit and versatility will find bounds of use for farmers, tradesmen, or those with acres of land. This is a means of carrying pretty much anything, and thanks to the removable side-panels, it can even move large objects. This is one for those who need a serious answer to their problems.

Quick Glance

  • 300lbs load capacity (main configuration)
  • 19” x 22” x 58” body
  • 10” wheels
  • Multiple configurations

Versatility in a garden cart is what many gardeners will crave. Something that can carry everything needed without having to fork out for separate products to fulfill the job. Thankfully, the Worx Aerocart is this and more.

Worx has invested heavily in the design of this cart, scratching all sorts of backyard itches. Primarily a wheelbarrow, the Worx Aeocart can move around 300lbs of weight in this mode, making it an effective wheelbarrow on its own.

Where the Aerocart truly shines is in its different configurations. Everything from plant and bag holders to a dolly cart is part of this product. This is perfect for anyone performing a plethora of gardening tasks and needs efficiency.

Converting between functions is simple also, only requiring the folding down of trays, flaps, arms, and legs. No tools required, no intrusive parts, just a simple and clean design. Even assembling the cart was a breeze, taking about ten minutes.

Although sturdy, the steel body is prone to scratches and dents, so it’s unlikely the Aerocart will stay pristine for long. Despite this, the entire barrow is light enough to push and maneuver. There is also a towing mode built into the cart, but the material and design made it difficult to put any faith into it.

There are very few shortcomings to Worx Aerocart, it’s simply fantastic. This was built with a primary user in mind; an individual who is doing home gardening and wants something to perform multiple simple tasks. This is it. It won’t be moving hefty loads, nor will it be great for worksites, but it can get everything else done without issue.

Quick Glance

  • 250lbs weight limit
  • 4 cubic feet capacity
  • 46” x 31” x 22”
  • Integrated tool storage
  • 4 wheel maneuverability

It’s easy to mistake the Ames Easy Roller for something of a simple wheelbarrow. With its plastic body and girthy design, this thing is a workhorse for the garden. To summarise, the Ames 2463875 is a study bucket on wheels – we mean that in the best way possible.

The poly plastic body is big enough to hold up to four cubic feet of whatever you want; gravel, soil, manure. This is a massive capacity and will serve well in large gardens. There are also holes to place stakes that can secure larger loads.

Fitting to its name, the Ames Easy Roller is befitting of its namesake. The four wheels were easy to roll around the garden and carrying heavy loads was never an issue. The build quality on the front wheels do leave a lot to be desired and may need replacing after a while.

The Ames Easy Roller is fairly simple but does pack a few little features. The integrated tool tray was a godsend and transformed the roller into a portable workstation in the garden.

The Easy Roller is a lasting product and will always have its uses in the garden. If you are a keen gardener, then this may be the answer for moving materials around.

Quick Glance

  • 800lbs load capacity
  • 38” x 21”
  • 10” tires
  • Removable sides

As with the other Gorilla Carts on this list, the GOR800-COM offers a cost-effective alternative to its older brothers.

Starting out, the small-but-sturdy cart can haul up to 800lbs of weight on its steel frame. Built to last, this is a great investment for the garden and will pull around everything from stones to logs. It can also be used to move virtually anything, so it may be practical outside the garden as well.

The mesh sides can be removed quickly to turn the Gorilla Carts GOR800-COM into a flatbed. If you have large items to carry around your land, this will handle anything such as lumber or fence posts.

Rough terrain and long tows won’t affect the GOR800-COM much if anything. The sturdy axel and quality wheels ensure that nothing will impede your movement. Similarly, the handle held up perfectly, tugging a heavy load without any strain and across uneven patches of land.

The Gorilla Carts GOR800-COM is perfect for someone who needs the build quality of a Gorilla Cart but doesn’t want to spend too much. This can be used in and out of the garden with the same high standard, making it one of the best garden carts for anyone who has to haul anything heavy.

Quick Glance

  • 400lbs load capacity
  • 34” x 18” x 9”
  • Removable side rails
  • Weather coating

A cheaper option to many carts, the Sunnydaze Utility Garden Cart is a fantastic alternative to the bigger brands on the market.

With a load-bearing capacity of 400lbs, the mesh bed can handle most jobs around the garden. If you’re looking to move plant pots or stones, this may be a good option for a quick solution. The sides can also be reversed or removed for larger items if needed.

Out of the box, the SunnyDaze Utility Steel Garden Cart was difficult to build. A wrench and socket wrench is required to put this together, taking around 30 – 60 minutes to assemble. However, the removable sides were not difficult to adjust during use.

The cart is elevated around 12” off of the ground, giving it some leeway when moving across rocky or uneven terrain. Coupled with the pneumatic tires, we found no difficulty in moving these carts around the garden.

The build-quality seemed durable, as well as being weather-resistant thanks to the powder-coating on the frame. We have no doubts that this will handle large items without trouble down the line.

Disregarding some difficult (and confusing) assembly, the Sunnydaze Utility Cart was great at handling the tasks we performed. It does what it says on the tin, with some small bonus features to boot. Plus they have all sorts of color options, so what’s no to like?

Those who are shifting around large quantities of material, such as hay and soil, will definitely find their needs are met with this cart.

A 10 cubic feet capacity makes this a perfect cart for those who are farming or constantly offloading material. This couples well with its 350lbs load capacity, ensuring that stability is maintained when moving copious heavy loads.

The durable poly cart bed is durable and when put to the test, worked excellently when moving stones and gravel.

Upon our maneuvering tests, we found no issues in the tires. They were load-bearing, steady, and did not falter when attached to a tractor.

The pneumatic tires aided in this, staying balanced and steady when moved by hand and by the trailer.

A foot lever dumping mechanism is installed on the cart, allowing for swift removal of the contents. As this is intended for farming materials or sediment, this will no doubt be fantastic for agricultural work.

If you’re buying this for common garden tasks, then you may want to look elsewhere. If you’re buying this for farm work or large-scaled landscaping, then this is one of the best garden carts available. Not only are you getting a massive capacity, but you are also getting some convenient features and great build quality.

It can be difficult to differentiate against well-known brands in the gardening market, but Landworks have done a great job with this one.

With a sturdy mesh frame, up to 400lbs of weight can be held with ease. Although it is somewhat narrow, the adjustable sides give more width to accommodate for big items. It is tough enough for most jobs, thanks to its strong frame and multi-weather coating.

The Landworks Heavy Duty Garden Utility Cart is intended for use in most terrains, handling inclines and declines well. The tires accommodate for this nicely and maneuvered over grass, gravel, and woodland without issue.

One of our favorite features is the carts ability to be stored. The entire thing is easily assembled and can then be folded for easy storage options. Considering how bulky carts can be, this was a blessing.

On top of all the features, it meets all the standards, including a soft-grip handle that alleviates pain when pulling. This can be removed if you want to attach it to the tail of a tractor or similar.

Overall, there isn’t much we can take away from the Landworks Heavy Duty Utility Cart. It ticks all the boxes, is reasonably priced and is perfect for the garden. • 400lbs load capacity
  • 34” x 18” frame
  • Polyester lining
  • Removable sides

Carrying mulch, soil and other sorts of sediment can be a dirty job. Sunnydaze has added a liner to its steel cart range to rectify this.

The polyester lining is what sets this cart apart and prevents anything spilling out of the mesh side-railings. When tested with soil, it performed valiantly, with little being spilled out of the trolley. It may be niche in its appeal, but it definitely suits anyone who needs the cart specifically for soil or dirt.

On a separate note, the Sunnydaze Utility Steel Garden cart is the same basic concept as their other carts. It has a weight capacity of 400lbs, 34” x 18” size, and features reinforced axels.

It is simply a solid cart and performs as you would expect. It even allows for adjustable sides and excellent maneuverability thanks to the elevation of the tray. The handle is soft and can be easily pulled along or attached as a trailer to a tractor.

As with other Sunnydaze products, these can be difficult to assemble, but once built are sturdy and solid.

The lining is a nice touch to their cart line and it does seem tailored around this concept. At a reasonable price and fulfilling expected demands, this cart will be pleasing to anyone who purchases it.

Buyer’s Guide: Garden Carts and What to Look for While Buying One?

Despite looking simple to the layman, a garden cart is no simple purchase. Various factors will affect whether a garden cart is for you and the features you need. With the garden wagon market being inundated with different brands, models, and types, it can be really difficult to differentiate.

We’ve done our best to make you aware of the best garden carts available, but which of these is the gardening cart that will suit your needs? Here are some tips to help you figure that out.

What is a garden cart?

Garden carts, also known as a garden wagon, are a simple tool, consisting of wheels and a tray. In essence, they are similar to a wheelbarrow, but with more complex features. They are a wheeled means of moving something from A to B.

These utility wagons are made for convenience and take away the strain involved with moving things around. Even with wheelbarrows, the likes of gravel and soil can be difficult to push and maneuver, which carts alleviate.

These little vehicles can be essential to gardeners who need this form of transportation but find physical labor intense. Lots of carts even come with features to make them more portable, convenient, and stress-free.

Why you should Buy a Garden Cart

A yard cart can be an expensive investment and, as such, it’s worth deciding whether you need one.

The main uses of a garden cart are for transportation of heavy or large items across a bit of land. This lends itself well to people who are professionals or those who have large gardens and are constantly moving soil, dirt, grass e.t.c. It’s unlikely you would need a cart if you have a small garden, but they can still be convenient regardless.

Garden carts also have their uses outside of the garden and can be used to carry anything. Small mesh carts are perfect for versatility and can be a tool for the home.

On the other hand barrel carts and dumper carts are more tailored to professionals. It’s unlikely that you will need a cart such as this. Farmers and gardening professionals, even builders, will find these perfect for the job.

Different Types of Garden Cart

Best Garden Cart

Dumpers, flatbed carts, and utility wagons. There are tons of wagons to choose from and all have different uses around the garden.

Utility Carts

A utility wagon is a small trolley on wheels. These often have adjustable sides that can be adjusted or taken off. This leaves a completely flat surface to place large objects such as fence posts or plant pots on.

These are an excellent vehicle for your garden utensils and materials, even for the casual gardener. These can haul anything you want and are pretty easy to pull.

We recommend these to anyone and everyone, acting as a versatile aid to gardening.

Dumper Carts

Dumper carts look like wheelbarrows and are intended for carrying around large amounts of weight. Anyone who is constantly moving gravel or soil will need one of these and they carry more benefits than the standard wheelbarrow.

These are designed with stability in mind and often come equipped with sturdy tires that can handle weight and maneuver easily. The best garden carts in this bracket should come with a quick-release dump, usually a lever, to aid in emptying the cart.

Anyone working in the gardening profession or planning a landscaping project could definitely do with a dump cart.

Towing Carts

These are the same as dump carts in most respects but are geared towards professional use. These tend to have a large capacity and weight limit. Primarily used in agriculture, towing dump carts carry pretty much anything.

The best towing carts will come equipped with stable wheels and a strong attachment for the back of a tractor or similar. Lever adjusted tailgate release is a must with these carts, taking away a lot of hassle seen with towing carts.

Conclusion

There is something about the garden cart that we love. From the simplistic practicality of a dumper cart to the everyday pragmatism of a utility wagon. From every inch of soil to each piece of gravel, our carts have helped us out along the way.

We hope you were able to find the best cart for you whilst reading this article. A lot of care went into choosing the best garden cart varieties and models available. Hopefully, you can be rolling around your bits and bobs soon!
