Recycled materials look right at home in the garden among the beauty of nature
Why not try your hand at a DIY project to turn an old pallet into a vertical garden?
Hollowed out tree stumps can make great rustic alternatives to pot plants. But, our favorite way to decorate with recycled materials in the garden is to turn an old rowboat into a large garden bed.
Give it a lick of fresh paint to brighten it up and suit your décor. See these yard art ideas and more, right here.
Have you ever been to the home of an artist? It’s getting harder to find creative materials in the stores these days, with everything mass produced and everyone buying the same products.
Be unique.
Did you know you can make garden art with things you probably already have lying around the house, or in a nearby trash pile?
Like they say… “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”… right?
A Few Other Yard Art Ideas
- Create garden art out of plastic bottles
- Take old, rustic, broken furniture, and plant a garden in it
- Recycle old tree stumps by planting flowers in them
- Plant flowers or plants in a birdcage
- Use old chairs, wheelbarrows, and lightbulbs as pots
Repurposing old furniture looks incredibly artistic, but we recommend keeping your recycled art to wooden furniture.
You’ll notice we don’t have pictures of azaleas planted in a soft, plush couch, for example.

The baby blue dresser above is a perfect example of some exqusite garden art from recycled materials.
It makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into history, and reminds us of the ongoing evolution of life.
Look at all the colors, too!

This recycled and repurposed wooden chair (above) is covered in moss, and although the picture is taking simply sitting in the yard, this piece would go great in the middle of some landscaping.
Old light bulbs make excellent recycled additions to your collection, too.
Just crack open the base and fill with water, and a few of your favorite small flowers.
