Hot Pressure Washer

Hot pressure washers are the most advanced and useful types of pressure washers available. These large, industrial units are powerful enough to clean and sanitize any surface, including wood, concrete, metal, foam and insulation. While too expensive and impractical for most consumers, these washers are readily employed by contractors and high end cleaning companies. Pressure washers like this have complex inner workings which heat water to incredible temperatures. Much in the way old steam engines vaporized water with coal, a hot steam pressure washer uses gas or oil which is heated to high temperatures. A gasoline engine keeps everything running while the operator goes to work. Keeping a close eye on the functionality of the machine is needed to ensure safety.

Caring for Hot Pressure Washers:

Hot pressure washers have similar maintenance needs to a standard gasoline engine, such as one on in your car or lawnmower. The air filter should be checked and replaced regularly to keep the inside clean and ensure maximum power. Over time, air filters can accumulate dust and oil which can clog it up. A clogged air filter will smother the engine and prevent vital oxygen from reaching the combustion chamber. Signs of a clogged filter include a reduction in power. Simply remove the dirty filter and replace it with a new one to ensure reliable cleaning with your hot pressure washer.

Oil filters also need occasional replacement. Oil filters remove any particulates which flow around in the oil. Engine oil is responsible for lubricating all of the internal moving parts and is essential to operation of the pressure washer. A bad oil filter will let particles into the engine compartment, reducing the lifespan of the washer. Replacing the filter is a simple process and should not be neglected.

Regular checks on the oil quality should be done on a regular basis. Take out the oil dipstick, wipe it off with a paper towel and place it back in. Now take the dipstick back out and look at the oil level. If the oil has fallen below the indicator, it is time to add more. This indicator can also tell you if too much oil has been added. Oil of a black color indicates dirty and worn oil, in which case it should be drained and disposed of properly.

Hoses and Fittings:

Steam pressure washers require that all high pressure components be fully functional. Broken fittings can be detected when excess dripping or spraying is observed. Leaks tend to occur at the point of least resistance, which include metal threads between the spray wand, hose and nozzles. Hoses can quickly degrade when left out in the sun or extreme cold. Signs of wear include cracking and peeling. A hose of disrepair should be replaced immediately. Replacing a pressure washer hose gives you the chance to buy a longer hose if needed. Longer hoses allow users to walk around further from the unit without moving it.

Conclusion:

With regular care and a watchful eye, a hot pressure washer can last a lifetime. Many users claim to have used the same washer for a decade or more.
