To eat healthy and still achieve that great barbecue taste, try using an electric bbq grill. Instead of using charcoal or
propane gas, these grills use only electricity from a wall outlet for power. Heating elements built into the grilling surface quickly heat up, with temperatures controlled by a dial. Electric grilling is one of the cleanest ways to cook because excess fat from meats is collected in a reservoir and can be disposed. The only cleanup needed after use is a quick wipe down of the non-stick surface. While electric bbq grills such as the ones from George foreman are marketed for indoor use, these grills can be used outdoors too with a solid stand. These quick heating, convenient grills come in several variations which will be discussed in this guide.
Four Main Styles
Panini Grills: Electric Panini grills are ideal for making the pressed sandwiches known as paninis. These sandwiches are pressed between two heated grill surfaces, creating perfect grill lines, crisping the outside of the bread and melting the cheeses and meats inside. Grills of these types heat on both sides for thorough cooking.
Clamshell/Domed Electric Grill: The George Foreman grill is an excellent example of clamshell style cooking. The grilling surfaces have deep rigid which allow fats and juices to flow away from the meats and collect in a reservoir. In addition, the surfaces are slanted, allowing gravity to pull the juices in one direction. Heating elements are contained within both the lid and base, heating both sides of the food. Meats, veggies, and even the popular Panini sandwich can be grilled to perfection on this type of electric bbq grill.
Indoor and Outdoor: Some grills are flexible enough to be used both indoors and out. Indoor/outdoor grills have a grill surface which sits on a tall stand. A domed lid allows the heat to circulate within, evenly cooking both the top and bottom of the food through convention. Users can easily transport the grill between the kitchen and backyard with the removable stand.
Interchangeable Cooking Surface: For people who employ a wide range of cooking styles, a grill with interchangeable plates is ideal. These electric bbq grills have plates of different types which can be changed out. Specialized plates for making waffles, cooking meats and grilling sandwiches are all available.
Cleaning
The ability to remove the non-stick cooking surface makes these grills easy to clean. Pop the grate into the dishwasher for no-hassle cleanup. For griddles and grills which don’t have removable surfaces, cleanup can still be easy. Using a non-abrasive cleaning tool such as a rag or sponge, scrub the surface with a bit of soap and water. Debris caught in between the grates can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush.
